Lazkao City Council and the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council have strengthened their collaboration this week, following the visit of General Deputy Eider Mendoza, to promote strategic projects in the municipality.

Gipuzkoa's General Deputy, Eider Mendoza, and Lazkao's Mayor, Kepa Zubiarrain, met this week to discuss the main development lines for the municipality. This meeting served to reinforce inter-institutional collaboration, considered essential for improving the quality of life for citizens.
The day began with a visit to the Ezarri company, founded in 1979 and located in Lazkao. This company has become an international benchmark in the recycled glass mosaic sector, standing out for its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and quality. With a workforce of 85 people, Ezarri currently exports its products to over 130 countries, positioning it as one of the most relevant industrial drivers in the municipality.
Subsequently, the institutional delegation moved to the City Hall, where the main meeting of the day was held. During this meeting, key projects shaping Lazkao's future were discussed, notably the development of the Lazkaomendi path. The first phase of this project is scheduled for the second half of 2026 and aims to improve connectivity and access to this area of the municipality. A grant application for its execution has already been formalized, with the intention of shared funding between the City Council and the Provincial Council.
Another crucial point of the meeting was the planned intervention in the Enpaundi area, an action designed to prevent flooding issues affecting this zone. This project will be developed in collaboration with the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and will continue previously initiated works, aiming to offer a definitive solution to a problem of concern to the citizenry.
In the healthcare sector, the visit included a tour of the current health center, as well as the provisional facilities that will become operational in the coming days. This step will allow healthcare services to continue while construction of the new health center proceeds, with its start planned for this April by the Basque Government. This project is particularly anticipated by the population, as it will represent a significant improvement in the municipality's health services.

"Collaboration between institutions is constant and is key to continuing to drive Lazkao's development."
