This initiative is part of the Tau Taupadak program and will take place on May 20 and September 27. The aim is not only to disseminate the urban planning and human past of the area but also to strengthen community ties and participation among residents through collective memory.
The tours will start at the Izazpi covered court. There, a brief audiovisual presentation with historical photographs will be offered to contextualize the changes the neighborhood has undergone in almost a century. Afterwards, the route will pass through several significant points such as Elgarrestamendi, Ipar Haizea, Argixao, El Salvador parish, Leturia square, and Antonino Oraa, among others.
“"Every corner of the neighborhood has something to tell. When we know the history of the places where we live, we better understand who we are as a community."
For her part, the Councillor for Social Welfare and Equality has highlighted the social value of the initiative. She stated that they do not want history to remain stored in archives or old photographs, but rather to come out into the streets, be shared, and serve to strengthen ties between generations and neighbors.
The May 20 visit will be at 6:00 PM, and the schedule for the September 27 visit has not yet been confirmed. Interested individuals can register online via the address labur.eus/Taubizi or in person at the El Salvador Social Center, on Mondays and Thursdays from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.
