A second-hand market will be held in the Zumarraga town square on June 7th, Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Residents will have the opportunity to sell items from their homes and purchase goods offered by their neighbors.
This initiative aims to be a meeting point for promoting reuse, circular economy, and responsible consumption. As highlighted by the mayor, Mikel Serrano, the main goals are "to give a second life to objects in good condition, reduce waste, and simultaneously foster atmosphere, dynamism, and participation in the town."
The market will offer two participation options: firstly, through 'Reserve Your Table', individuals can sell or trade their products directly, with a free table and tablecloth provided. Associations, on the other hand, will have two tables. Secondly, a 'Deposit Service' will be available on the day of the market, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, where participants can leave up to 10 items for the organization to manage their sale.
The market will feature items such as books, toys, decorative objects, household items, and sports equipment, provided they are in good condition. Food, dangerous items, or products in poor condition will not be accepted.
Participation is free, and registration will be open until May 29th. Further information can be obtained on the municipal website (www.zumarraga.eus), via the QR code on informational posters, or by calling 943 72 90 22 (extension 187).
This event, organized with the support of the company Artelatz, is part of the grant program of the Department of Sustainability of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa in the field of circular economy. The budget is 5,000 euros, with the provincial council providing 75% funding.
The mayor emphasized that this activity, organized within the framework of Environment Week, holds significant educational and awareness-raising value, guiding citizens towards more sustainable daily habits. "We want a vibrant, sustainable, and participatory Zumarraga," he stated, expressing hope for the market's success and its annual organization.
