Zumarraga's festivities will kick off on the afternoon of July 1st, a change prompted by the calendar placing Santa Isabel Day on a Thursday.

This year's opening pregón for the Zumarraga festivities will take place on the afternoon of July 1st, towards the end of the day's events. The fact that Santa Isabel Day falls on a Thursday has led to a modification of the traditional festival schedule to better accommodate the various activities. Consequently, the chupinazo, which traditionally occurs at midnight with the arrival of the societies' tamborrada in the plaza, will be held during the day this year, similar to what happened in 2015 under the same circumstances.
The exact time is yet to be determined, but it will be shortly before dusk on July 1st. It will be accompanied by the performance of the Himno de Zumarraga by the band and the Goiargi choir. Prior to this, other festive activities will take place, including a children's park, a 'txu txu' train, and a foam party for children, as well as the final of the 'cuadrilla' (team) Olympics and the first 'cabezudos' (big-heads) races through the streets. Following the pregón, various DJs will liven up the night.
Although the main program is concentrated between July 1st and 5th, the festive events will span eight days. They will begin on Saturday, June 27th, with the local clay pigeon shooting championship and a concert by Goiargi. On Sunday, June 28th, the popular 'Children's Day' and the children's tamborrada will be celebrated. On Tuesday, June 30th, the 'Day of the Elderly' will take place.
On Wednesday, July 1st, the aforementioned chupinazo will occur, and on Thursday, July 2nd, the main Santa Isabel Day will be celebrated with its usual program. On Friday, July 3rd, the popular beach soccer and volleyball championships will be held, among other daytime events, while the evening will be dedicated to the societies' tamborrada. On Saturday, July 4th, the traditional 'baile al suelto' (freestyle dance) competition, the Grand Prix, fireworks, and the popular Baile de la Era will take place. Finally, on Sunday, July 5th, there will be an artisan and art fair, 'recortadores' (bullfighters who dodge bulls), and a concert by the band. Numerous other activities will also be spread throughout the intense program.
