The social insertion company 'Zu Mas Zaindu' in Zumarraga celebrates its fourth anniversary, consolidating its dual mission of providing home care and cleaning services, and generating employment opportunities for individuals facing vulnerability.

The social insertion company 'Zu Mas Zaindu' in Zumarraga has reached its fourth anniversary, reviewing its journey. The event was attended by Izaskun Zabalo, the company's manager; Astrid López de la Serna, general manager of the Foundation for Workers of Integral Siderurgy; Teresa Hernández, the foundation's manager in Gipuzkoa; and Mikel Serrano, the mayor.
The company has solidified its dual mission: offering home care and cleaning services, and creating employment opportunities for individuals in situations of vulnerability or risk. Thanks to the collaboration with the City Council and the Foundation for Workers of Integral Siderurgy, 27 insertion positions have been created since May.
From its inception, 'Zu Mas Zaindu' has experienced sustained growth, both socially and in terms of activity. The entity was established as a project aimed at facilitating employment pathways for individuals with particular difficulties accessing jobs, primarily women, through comprehensive support that fosters their social and professional inclusion.
Currently, the company's staff consists of 25 people, 20 of whom are women undergoing insertion programs. These workers receive personalized support to foster their professional development and access to the ordinary labor market. Furthermore, the company maintains a strong regional presence: 42% of the women in insertion programs reside in Zumarraga, 33% in Legazpi, and 25% in Urretxu.
The number of services provided has increased significantly, from 153 services since May 2022 to 903 services in 2025. The average monthly number of clients is around 70, highlighting the trust of users and their families.
Each job generated represents an opportunity for individuals facing vulnerability to develop an autonomous and stable life project, they emphasized.
For the Zumarraga City Council, these figures confirm that it is possible to combine sustainability and positive social impact through social economy projects. 'Our growth confirms that labor insertion is an effective tool for transforming lives and strengthening our community,' stated Mayor Mikel Serrano.
'We are witnessing another example of how collaboration between institutions and social entities generates employment and, at the same time, reinforces proximity services that improve citizens' quality of life,' the mayor announced.
'On this fourth anniversary, we wish to express our gratitude for the trust placed in 'Zu Mas Zaindu' to our users, families, collaborating institutions, the Zumarraga City Council, the Foundation for Workers of Integral Siderurgy, and all the professionals who have made the growth and consolidation of this social economy project at the service of people possible,' concluded the company.
