The Basque Segurtasun Foroa convened this afternoon in Zumarraga to analyze the security situation in the Goierri region and Antzuola, with the participation of municipal representatives and social, economic, and business stakeholders.

Representatives from the municipalities of Zumarraga, Urretxu, Legazpi, Ezkio-Itsaso, and Antzuola, along with social, economic, and other institutional agents, participated in this meeting. The objective was to gather diagnoses, experiences, and proposals regarding regional security through a participatory dynamic.
Attendees had the opportunity to exchange experiences with the aim of strengthening security in the area. A broad perspective on security was addressed, going beyond the purely police scope to also cover prevention, emergencies, traffic, and the natural environment. Emergency management, cybercrime, violence against women, road safety, drug consumption, and the environmental impact of climate change were among the topics discussed.
The Minister of Security, Bingen Zupiria, and the General Deputy of Gipuzkoa, Eider Mendoza, also participated in the meeting, along with other representatives from the Security Department of the Basque Government, the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, and regional municipalities, as well as Ertzaintza agents and local police. Additionally, social, educational, and business stakeholders from Goierri took part, enriching the analysis from various perspectives.

The Basque Segurtasun Foroa is a participatory process to build a shared diagnosis of security from an integral perspective.

This was the 23rd meeting of the Basque Segurtasun Foroa, with previous sessions held throughout Euskadi, including various regions of Bizkaia, Álava, and Gipuzkoa. This process provides a meeting point for various institutions, entities, and stakeholders to address security-related issues of concern, such as citizen security, climate emergency, mobility, large events, cybersecurity, and emergencies. The next meeting will take place on April 21 in Gernika-Lumo (Bizkaia).
