Developed in collaboration with local bars, cafes, and restaurants, this initiative allows customers to request their drinks in the 'Kikara' reusable cup, designed to foster more responsible and environmentally friendly consumption habits.
The system operates with a one-euro deposit paid by customers upon receiving the cup, which can be refunded by returning it to any participating establishment or exchanged for a clean one for continued use.
The Council highlights that the 'Kikara' cups are designed for continuous and sustainable use. They are reusable, recyclable, and made from 60% rice husk material from the Ebro Delta, suitable for dishwashers and microwaves without damage.
Through this initiative, the City Council aims to help residents and visitors integrate small sustainable actions into their daily routines, particularly concerning the widespread habit of takeaway coffee.
Furthermore, the involvement of both the public and the hospitality sector has been acknowledged, emphasizing that collaboration is crucial for reducing waste and adopting more conscious habits.
The 'Kikara' cups will be available at any of the hospitality establishments participating in this new campaign promoted in Ordizia.
