The Leintz team has won the Gipuzkoa Intercomarcal Bertsolari Championship in Aia, concluding the journey that began on February 21st in Bergara.

Last Saturday, in Aia, the Leintz team was awarded the trophy for the Gipuzkoa Intercomarcal Bertsolari Championship. The group, consisting of bertsolaris Haizea Arana, Oihana Arana, and Ane Zuazubiskar, along with topic presenter Olatz Zuazubiskar and judge Larraitz Trojaola, defeated the Zumarraga-Urretxu 1 team in the final.
The members of the Leintz team participated in a total of five sessions throughout this championship. According to Haizea Arana, they have a positive assessment of their performance: "The Intercomarcal Championship went very well. The phases held in Debagoiena were very enjoyable. The final was the only session where we performed outside the Deba valley, and we are very pleased with the result."
Larraitz Trojaola, who served as a judge, expressed surprise at not expecting to win a trophy without being a bertsolari herself: "It went very well, and we are very happy. With the trophy at home, we can't complain. Moreover, who would have thought that without being a bertsolari, just being a fan, I would end up at home with a trophy?"
Both Arana and Trojaola stated that the championship has served to network the bertsolaritza scene, which had been scattered for a long time. "There were four sessions in our valley, and it was a great excuse to connect the adult bertso schools, and we have a pretty good atmosphere among us. That, after so much time, has been gratifying," says Arana. Trojaola adds that the format itself facilitated this, by leaving the organization of the first phase to each region.
In Arana's opinion, the region was positioned on the map of Gipuzkoan bertsolaritza long ago, but the championship has helped Debagoiena to secure its place on that map. "Debagoiena was placed on the map of verse before us, and we cannot deny that. It's true that it had been somewhat stagnant for many years, and I think it was nice, on one hand, to pay a small tribute to that journey of Debagoiena and, on the other hand, to say that we are back," she explains.
Trojaola agrees with Arana but emphasizes that the championship has served to prove that bertsolaritza is well-practiced in Debagoiena: "Some of us had Debagoiena positioned on the bertsolaritza map for a long time, but I think it has served, especially in Gipuzkoa, for some to realize that bertsolaritza is practiced in Debagoiena, and moreover, it is practiced well."
