The centenary of the birth of bertsolari Joxe Migel Iztueta has been commemorated in Lazkao with the participation of children and adults, through dances, songs, and bertso sessions, to remember his legacy.

This year marks 100 years since the birth of Joxe Migel Iztueta Kortajarena, known as Lazkao Txiki, and a large commemorative event was held in his honor in Lazkao. Hundreds of people gathered in the square named after him, in front of the stone sculpture dedicated to him, to remember his figure.
The tribute began with an Agurra performed by three dancers from Oin Arin, accompanied by two trikitilaris from the Lazkao Txiki Musika Eskola. Subsequently, the senior group from the music school and members of the Bakuntza group performed various choreographies and songs, creating a festive atmosphere.
Bertso sessions were one of the main highlights of the event. Veteran bertsolaris who shared stages with Lazkao Txiki, such as Iñaki Murua, Millan Telleria, and Jexux Mari Jauregi Altzo Txiki, as well as younger ones like Iban Urdangarin and Iñaki Apalategi, participated. They recalled the words and wisdom left by Lazkao Txiki through their bertsos, sung in the form of coplas.
At the end of the event, the music school choir and representatives from the Gipuzkoako Bertso Eskolak also participated with bertso and song performances. On the same day, the Gipuzkoako Bertso Eskolen Eguna (Day of the Bertso Schools of Gipuzkoa) was also celebrated in Lazkao, bringing together about 80 children from 5th and 6th grades to participate in bertso competitions.
