Hegialde neighborhood in Legazpi celebrates its festivities this weekend

Dances, music, pintxos, and numerous events will liven up the neighborhood celebration from Friday to Sunday.

Following last week's warm-up events, the festivities for the Hegialde neighborhood in Legazpi kick off today, featuring a diverse program for residents.

After the warm-up activities of last week and yesterday, the festivities for the Hegialde neighborhood in Legazpi begin today with a dance festival by the group Sustraiak. Local dancers will perform starting at 5:00 PM in Laubide. The opening 'chupinazo' will be at 7:00 PM. This year, residents with intellectual disabilities will have the honor of starting the festivities. After singing the neighborhood anthem, there will be pintxos for everyone.
At 7:15 PM, they will parade around the neighborhood with Primo Bayo. The Festival Commission is asking residents to come out in the Hegialde txaranga's attire: white shirt, suspenders, beret, and multi-colored socks.
At 10:15 PM, the 'cuadrillas' (groups of friends) dinner will take place, where each group will bring their own food, set up their table, and clean up afterward. From midnight, the Basque music group Bide Batez will perform, and from 3:30 AM, there will be dancing with DJ Woolen.
On Saturday, the residents of Hegialde will celebrate 'elegant day'. At 10:30 AM, chess matches will be held in Laubide. At 11:30 AM, various musical groups will perform: the Alaitasuna rondalla from Legazpi, the G2/LEI clarinet ensemble from Biscay, the Aisband group from the Andrés Isasi music school in Getxo, and the Ai, ze taldea! group from the Doinua music school in Legazpi.
At 12:00 PM, children will practice various rural sports, and at 2:30 PM, the popular community meal will begin. Cocinaderecho will prepare 'arroz a la zamorana'. Tickets for the meal are on sale at Insausti, Maiatza, and Gure Kabia bars; the Sorgin Orrazi hair salon; Raquel herbalist shop; and José Antonio Vega pharmacy.
After lunch, at 4:00 PM, the Trapalata txaranga will perform. At 6:30 PM, the dance groups Korosti from Legazpi and La Besana from San Vicente de Alcántara (Badajoz) will perform. From 8:00 PM, they will dance with the Jamaica Show orchestra, at 9:30 PM there will be bingo, and from midnight, dancing will resume with Jamaica Show. Organizers remind residents and visitors that on Saturday, dressing in their finest attire is mandatory.
Sunday will also feature a wide range of activities. At 10:15 AM, a mass will be held at the Domingo Agirre school. At 11:30 AM, classic and competition cars will be exhibited in the parking lot between Gure Kabia bar and Goiherri, and at 12:00 PM, they will warm up for the 'sanfermines' with a 'torico' (young bull). At the same time, dulzaina players will perform in the neighborhood bars.
The afternoon will also include various events. From 4:00 PM, anyone wishing to can slide down an 80-meter water slide installed on San Juan hill. At 6:00 PM, families will enjoy the 'Alice in Wonderland' parade. At 8:00 PM, Chuchín Ibáñez will sing rancheras. The festivities will conclude with fireworks at 11:00 PM.
