During this event, the Basque Government distributed certifications for its 2025 tourism programs. The work carried out by Goierri was particularly highlighted within the framework of the Basque Country Tourism Ethical Code program. This initiative promotes responsible tourism, focusing on sustainability, equality, the protection of local culture, and the rights of sector workers.
Eighteen tourism companies from Goierri successfully completed the evaluation process, demonstrating continuous improvement in service and management. These include the Ataun tourist office, Dolarea hotel and Igartza Palace in Beasain, Erro tourist services, GOITUR, the Idiazabal Cheese Interpretation Center, Urtaro travel agency in Lazkao, D’Elikatuz Interpretation Center and Ediren Bidaiak in Ordizia, Ordizia hotel in Ordizia, the Ormaiztegi tourist office, Imaz hotel and Medieval Interpretation Center in Segura, Aizkorriko Ataria Interpretation Center and Arrieta Haundi rural tourism in Zegama, and the tourist office, Oiharte cider house, and Aizpea Interpretation Center in Zerain.
Furthermore, the Smart Tourism Company program also yielded positive results in the region. Out of 25 participating entities in the Basque Country, 21 completed the process, including the d’Elikatuz Center in Ordizia and the Zerain tourist office. This program emphasizes the importance of data analysis for management and decision-making.
Finally, Goitur itself received certification for the Smart Tourist Destination program, recognizing its comprehensive work. Goitur integrates tourism planning and management with sustainability and technology, aiming to transform Goierri into a more attractive and efficient destination. Javier Hurtado, the Basque Government's Minister of Tourism, Trade, and Consumption, attended the certificate award ceremony.
