The Aktibatu Legazpi program, promoted by the Legazpi City Council, is launching a new campaign focused on healthy eating, emphasizing fruit consumption and featuring nutritionist talks.

The Aktibatu Legazpi program, initiated by the Legazpi City Council to encourage residents to engage in physical activity, has unveiled its upcoming initiatives. The new campaign will center on nutrition, with a particular emphasis on the importance of fruit consumption.
The head of the Physical Activity Orientation Service, established by the council within the Aktibatu Legazpi program, provided details of this new campaign, highlighting the positive outcomes of the previous swimming challenge. This second campaign on healthy eating will run between May and June and will feature two main activities.
Firstly, Fruit Week will be held from May 25th to 31st. During this week, free fruit will be distributed at various locations throughout the town, accompanied by an informational leaflet explaining the health benefits of fruit. Fruit pieces will be available at places such as the Culture House, the Health Center, and the sports center.
Secondly, a nutritionist will offer theoretical and practical talks. These sessions will address myths and provide advice on daily nutrition, including guidelines for food storage and refrigerator use. One talk will be in Basque on June 8th, and another in Spanish on June 10th.
It was also noted that the previous swimming challenge was a great success, with 211 participants. Of these, 159 completed at least eight days of swimming activity, and a special raffle was held among them to distribute three 50-euro vouchers for use in local shops. Additionally, in this first campaign, training sessions were offered to professionals from Garagune and Meazti to provide them with tools and resources to help their users engage in physical activity.
The evaluation of the first campaign has been very positive, and enthusiasm for the second one has been expressed. This campaign will take place before the summer, and after the summer, a third one will be held, dedicated to chronic diseases.
