Ordizia City Council has initiated renovation work on the space known as Anselmo's Garden, with the goal of creating a new green area for residents.

Ordizia City Council has commenced restoration efforts on the area known as Anselmo's Garden, which has been unused by the public for many years. This space, connecting Garagartza square and Ordizia street, will be transformed into a new green area integrating nature, biodiversity, and community use.
According to information provided by Mayor Adur Ezenarro, the project will be carried out in two phases. The first phase is already underway and will last for a month and a half. During this period, work will include clearing the area, removing undergrowth, adjusting the topography, and improving accessibility. A pathway will also be created to comfortably and accessibly link Garagartza square with Ordizia street. This initial phase has a budget of 49,667.50 euros.
The second phase will involve installing the space's amenities, such as street furniture, lighting, an irrigation system, and a fountain. The mayor has indicated that they expect the work to be completed by the end of the year.
Mayor Ezenarro emphasized that this project is part of the urban regeneration strategy. "In addition to making space for nature in the urban center, we will create a new climate refuge against climate change and gain a pleasant and accessible meeting point for citizens," he stated.
The area spans approximately 1,551 square meters and will have a natural character. "The native vegetation will be protected and strengthened, creating suitable habitats for small fauna and establishing a green barrier to ensure the privacy of nearby homes." Most of the existing trees will be preserved, and more local species will be planted.
In the central part of the space, in the sunniest area, an open meadow is planned, creating an open area similar to a small plaza or auditorium, serving as a community socialization zone.
