The event took place at the memorial located near the Albisu house, where a tribute has been held every July 27th since 2013. The ceremony remembered the 34 people executed in late July 1936, as well as other victims of repression who died up until 1942.
This year, the tribute was expanded to include other soldiers and militiamen linked to Beasain who died defending democratic values. An additional 34 names were added to the list of those being honored.
The gathering emphasized solidarity with the families of those who suffered repression. The event also recalled the hardships of those years, including the imprisonment of hundreds of residents, forced labor, the specific persecution of women, and the prohibition of the Basque language.
