Beasain's journey in Segunda RFEF has come to an end. The Goierri team mathematically confirmed their relegation to Tercera RFEF after a 1-0 loss to Náxara at La Salera. This result, coupled with SD Logroñés' victory, left the Goierri side with no remaining chances. Just one year after celebrating a historic promotion, the team returns to the fifth tier of Spanish football.
The match began with high tension and a lot at stake for both teams. Náxara came out determined to take the initiative and quickly threatened with an action from their captain, who, after stealing the ball in midfield, advanced down the wing and tried his luck with a high shot. This was the first warning from the home team, which soon took control of the game. Pepe, from a set piece, came close to scoring, while Rojo, alert to a rebound, forced goalkeeper Artetxe into action. Villos also tried without success in an initial phase where Beasain struggled to contain the Riojan push.
The decisive moment arrived in the 24th minute. In an unfortunate play, Rojo (Náxara) took a very tight corner kick that surprised Artetxe and went directly into the goal. This 'Olympic goal' made it 1-0 and conditioned the rest of the match. From that point on, Beasain was forced to react.
The 'vagoneros' stepped up their game before halftime. Monreal came close to equalizing with a direct free-kick that grazed the crossbar, and Mendia also aimed for goal, though without creating excessive danger. The match became more balanced, with more physical contact than fluid play, and ended the first half with a minimal but very valuable lead for the home side.
After the restart, the game opened up. Náxara's coach made early substitutions, aware of the importance of securing the result, while Beasain began to gain ground and prominence. As minutes passed, the Gipuzkoan team accumulated attacks and forced their opponent to retreat.
The final minutes saw a visiting siege. Beasain attacked with everything, sending balls into the box and persistently seeking an equalizer, also driven by the urgency of their league position. Tension was palpable both on the pitch and in the stands of La Salera, where both fan bases experienced every play with nervousness. However, the goal did not come. The Riojan defense held firm, and the scoreboard remained unchanged.
At the end of the match, and after learning of SD Logroñés' victory, the news was confirmed: Beasain was relegated. The joy was for Náxara, who celebrated a historic permanence with their fans, while on the Beasain side, faces reflected the harshness of an outcome that brings an end to a stage that was as exciting as it was demanding.
Despite a strong final stretch of the season, the effort was not enough to secure permanence. Now, the club must focus on rebuilding its sports project and planning for the next campaign in Tercera RFEF.
Before that, fans will have the opportunity to bid farewell to the team this coming weekend in Loinaz. Beasain will close the season at home, hosting Real Zaragoza Deportivo Aragón, another team that also failed to maintain their category. It will be a farewell match, in which players and supporters will seek to close the season with dignity and recognition.
