This mobile initiative aims to help seniors identify road risks and provide them with self-protection tools and traffic accident prevention strategies. According to Eustat data, in 2025, people over 65 constituted 24.3% of the Basque Country's population, and six individuals from this group died in traffic accidents, accounting for 14.3% of all fatalities.
The educational program 'Danger is Where You Least Expect It. Look 100 times' will visit 16 towns across Euskadi in the coming months. Each town will host two types of activities: a street event throughout the day featuring a 'coffee truck' where participants can engage in interactive road safety games, and an afternoon session at municipal centers for seniors, focusing on developing a decalogue of best practices for safe mobility.
Each session will conclude with a monologue by a comedian, who will humorously convey road safety messages to remind participants of the importance of preventing traffic accidents. The campaign will commence in Villabona on April 15, with the street activity in Berdura Plaza and the afternoon session at the Salbadora Retirement Home.
Following Villabona, the initiative will visit other municipalities such as Dulantzi (April 16), Hondarribia (April 21), Urduña (April 23), Hernani (April 29), Galdakao (May 4), Bermeo (May 7), Gorliz (May 11), and Zuia (May 13). This awareness program was launched in 2023 and reached 20 municipalities last year, with approximately 6,000 participants.
