Askatuak Gipuzkoa, the club merging Gipuzkoa Basket and Askatuak, has announced the signing of Uruguayan point guard Lucas Capalbo for the 2026-2027 season.

Uruguayan point guard Lucas Capalbo is the first signing for Askatuak Gipuzkoa for the 2026-2027 season. The Donostia-based basketball club has signed a one-year contract with the player.
Capalbo was born in León (Spain), but competes internationally for the Uruguayan national team. He is 26 years old and last season played for Palma, where he averaged 10.5 points and 4.3 assists per game, ranking him among the top ten assist leaders in the LEB Plata league.
In the coming weeks, Capalbo will participate with the Uruguayan national team in FIBA-organized tournaments.

"With Capalbo, the team adds direction, talent, and leadership to strengthen the point guard position for the new season."
