The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, through its Department of Culture, has launched the 2026 call for four specialized training scholarships at Gordailua, the Heritage Collections Center.

These scholarships, managed by the Historical-Artistic Heritage, Collections and Museums Service, aim to complete the training of young people from Gipuzkoa in various fields related to cultural heritage.
Specifically, as explained by the provincial institution, the call includes one scholarship for training practices in the ethnographic field, one for conservation and restoration of art and ethnography, one for archaeology practices, and one for training in documentation and registration.

"These scholarships are an important tool to open doors for young people who want to orient their professional future towards cultural heritage. Gordailua, in addition to being a conservation space, is also a place for learning, research, and knowledge transmission."

The Provincial Deputy for Culture
The Provincial Deputy for Culture emphasized that caring for heritage does not only mean preserving objects, documents, or archaeological pieces. It also means training the people who will ensure that this heritage remains alive, is understood, and can be shared with citizens. From the Provincial Council, we want new generations to have real opportunities to train in key areas for the conservation, knowledge, and transmission of our heritage.
Each scholarship is endowed with 10,480 euros, charged to the 2026 and 2027 fiscal years. In total, the call amounts to 41,920 euros. The grants are included in the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan for Subsidies of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council.
Interested individuals must meet the requirements established in the regulatory bases. These include demonstrating academic training related to each specialty, having administrative residency in one of the municipalities of Gipuzkoa for at least five years within the last ten, and knowing the two official languages of the Basque Autonomous Community, accrediting a PL3 level or equivalent for Basque.
