Hondarribia is set to host the seventh edition of Muxiko Eguna this Sunday, an event expected to draw over 500 dancers from across Euskal Herria for a day of festivities, starting in the morning and culminating at the Hondartza Sports Center.
The Muxiko Eguna, now a significant event for dancers, will take place this Sunday in Hondarribia. The organizing associations, Lagun Artea and Klink, with the support of the Hondarribia City Council, anticipate gathering around 500 dancers in the Plaza de Armas for this celebration of Basque dance.
The day will kick off at 11:30 AM in Hondarribia's Damarri Plaza. At this time, the Muxikos will begin their ascent up Calle Mayor to Arma Plaza, where the Oinkada group will perform at 12:00 PM. Along the route, dancers will be accompanied by trikitilaris from Maltzeta, Auntza, and Izugarria Hondarribiko Erraldoiak, with a pair of txalapartaris positioned at the arches of the City Hall. The giants will lead the parade from the Santa María Arch.
An hour later, music will reach San Pedro street, and the morning's activities will conclude with a communal meal at the Hondartza Sports Center, for which all 300 tickets have already sold out. In the afternoon, after the meal, the festivities will continue with dancing animated by Patxi Pérez Taldea, with the event concluding at 8:00 PM.

"We organize this day with great enthusiasm and a lot of hard work. It's already a well-known day; since the beginning of the year, we've been receiving messages asking about the date. There's no room left for the meal, but there's plenty of space in the street, and we encourage people from all over Euskal Herria to come."
The organizers have also announced an alternative plan in case of bad weather, which current forecasts suggest is quite possible. If this occurs, all morning events would be moved to the Soroeta Frontón, while the meal, after-dinner activities, and dancing would remain at Hondartza. However, Izaskun Muñoa of Lagun Artea, in announcing this option, light-heartedly remarked that it's “better to forget about it, because we've bought good weather,” hoping the forecasts will change.

"We have seen the response this day receives. People come from all over Euskal Herria. It's a beautiful event, and I like to see how different parts of the city come together. I want to thank them for their work and the enthusiasm they put in, and I want to call on the people of Hondarribia to be part of this day."
