Two brothers sitting in a library surrounded by books, in conversation.

Brothers Ander (29) and Xabier (38) Terrones, both writers from Gipuzkoa, have shared their distinct perspectives on literature, creative processes, and influential readings in a recent interview.

Brothers Ander and Xabier Terrones, while having taken similar life paths, understand literature in different ways. Ander, 29, who works at NOTICIAS DE GIPUZKOA, tears into his inner self to tell stories in a reality he shapes at will. Xabier, 38, immerses himself in the history of places to unleash his imagination under a living reality.
However, the passion is the same. Since childhood, their library has been built on memories, anecdotes, and recommendations. First readers, then writers. Both authors chat about the stories they craft, what the creation process generates in them, and what they have learned from the pen along the way, with its ups and downs, dizzy spells, and self-demand.

"Lo peor es el dolor de cabeza que me genera. Lo mejor es releer algo que has escrito y sentirte muy a gusto, pensar que incluso a otra persona le gustaría."

Xabier Terrones

"Lo peor son las dudas, el darle vueltas a si cambiar o dejar algo. Lo mejor es esa sensación de bienestar y de quedarte vacío cuando terminas algo que te parece una maravilla."

Ander Terrones
Ander has learned the love for literature from Xabier, and his extroversion helps him understand how to reach people. For Xabier, his brother has motivated him to keep trying and not give up, and has allowed him to share his passion for literature, something he couldn't do with anyone else.
For beginners, Ander recommends Memorias de Idhún as a good start for fantasy. Xabier, on the other hand, suggests a Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie story, as they are short, entertaining, and intriguing.
When it comes to writing, for Xabier the worst part is the headache, and the best is rereading something written and feeling very pleased. For Ander, doubts are the worst, and the feeling of well-being and emptiness upon finishing something wonderful is the best.
Currently, Ander is reading La plaza del Diamante and a book about the history of Africa, and is writing the third part of a trilogy about Generation Z. Xabier is reading Erasmo de Róterdam and Descartes, and has several ideas and a half-started novel with a less realistic touch of fiction.
