Throughout Sunday, weather stations such as Urkulu recorded 34 degrees, while areas like Estanda, San Prudentzio, Arrasate, and Oñati saw temperatures surpass 33 degrees. In the Goierri region, Ordizia and Zegama also reported high thermal readings.
The coast experienced milder conditions than initially forecast, with temperatures around 25 degrees in Zarautz and the Port of Pasaia. Jaizkibel was the exception, reaching 31 degrees due to its exposed location.
The heatwave is caused by a thermal ridge combined with a DANA located west of the peninsula. This setup has brought a mass of dry, hot air that is expected to persist until Tuesday.
Monday is expected to be the most stifling day. Authorities advise staying hydrated and avoiding outdoor physical activities during the central hours of the day.
