The Basque Meteorology Agency, Euskalmet, has activated an orange alert for high temperatures in the interior of Gipuzkoa from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM today.

Temperatures are expected to reach 40 degrees in some inland areas, particularly in the Alto Deba region. Along the coast, a yellow warning is in effect, with maximums expected to reach around 33 degrees.
This heatwave is caused by a thermal ridge combined with a DANA located to the west of the peninsula, which is driving a mass of dry, warm air across the territory.
Forecasts for tomorrow, Tuesday, indicate a slight drop in temperatures. Euskalmet will downgrade the alert to yellow for the interior, with highs of 33 degrees, while no warnings are expected for the coastal areas.
