The Gipuzkoa Sortzen rugby project, a union between Zarautz KE and Bera Bera Rugby, faces an uncertain future following recent defeats and internal disagreements among its founding clubs.

The rugby section of Zarautz KE is not going through a good period. Gipuzkoa Sortzen, the union project formed in 2024, is faltering, and they are not achieving good results in the sports arena either.
In this sporting aspect, the team's last match ended in a defeat against Club Rugby Alcalá, a team that was playing for mathematical qualification among the top four to access the semifinals. The Madrid team showed no mercy and quickly opened a gap, leading 0-8, but the local team's good performance allowed them to reduce the deficit before halftime thanks to a try by Ramiro Orive.
However, the local comeback ended there, and Alcalá, in a not-so-spectacular second half, won the match, extending their lead to finish 5 to 18. It is true that Gesalaga Okelan Gipuzkoa Sortzen's last two commitments have been precisely against the two strongest teams in this promotion phase, Getxo and Alcalá, against whom they have put up a fight but, as expected, have had to concede defeat.
Furthermore, it has also become known that Gipuzkoa Sortzen may have its days numbered in the future. Apparently, in San Sebastián, there is interest from the city council for the two clubs in the Gipuzkoan capital to unite, and a significant amount of money will be invested to advance this project. Faced with this situation, Bera Bera has notified Zarautz KE that it will not continue within the current project, which poses serious problems for the club's board.
Several options are being thoroughly studied, but the possibility of keeping the team in División de Honor B is not seen as feasible due to the requirements that must be met, such as having a second team and youth teams. Nothing is clear yet, but the situation has become very complicated.
