Gipuzkoa reaches almost 30 degrees on an unseasonably warm Easter Monday

Easter Monday brought summer-like conditions to Gipuzkoa, with thermometers nearing 30 degrees, surpassing temperatures recorded in cities like Seville.

Gipuzkoa experienced summer-like weather this Easter Monday, with temperatures soaring to nearly 30 degrees, fulfilling forecasts and leaving behind the colder days.

Easter Monday felt like a full summer day in Gipuzkoa, with beaches and promenades bustling with people. As predicted, temperatures rose above 25 degrees in most Gipuzkoan municipalities, and in many, they approached 30 degrees. These high temperatures were a stark contrast to the previous days, when jackets, coats, and even umbrellas were essential.
On this short-sleeved, sunglasses, and sunscreen day, many took advantage of the holiday to take an outdoor stroll, go hiking, or visit the beach. The scene at La Concha beach was particularly striking.
The unseasonable heat in Gipuzkoa pushed mercury levels up to 29.5 degrees in Hondarribia. In fact, the temperature recorded at the Gipuzkoan airport was the second highest in all of Spain (29.8º), only surpassed by Santander. Not even Seville managed to reach 29 degrees, although it came close.
Indeed, the territory enjoyed a hot day thanks to the south wind. The coastal towns of Zumaia (29.6º) and Irun (29º) recorded the highest temperatures, according to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), although thermometers in other localities like Donostia, Zarautz, or Pasaia also reached maximums above 27 degrees.
In the interior, the south wind also made its presence felt, with temperatures hovering around 29 degrees. The highest peaks at the measurement stations managed by the Basque Meteorological Agency were registered in Hernani (29.2º), Bergara (29º), Oiartzun (28.9º), and Zizurkil (28º).
From tomorrow, the weather in Gipuzkoa will tend to be more variable, although generally, it will be a favorable week for those enjoying their holidays. Temperatures will remain pleasant but will not reach the record values of recent days. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), thermometers will show maximums ranging between 20 and 25 degrees from Tuesday to Friday.
Minimum temperatures, meanwhile, will be below 10º in inland regions during these days, while on the coast, they will not drop below 12º-13º. The week will see alternating clouds and clear skies, with a probability of light showers.
