The role of sustainability in the corporate world has evolved beyond regulatory compliance to become a decisive business asset. To analyze this paradigm shift and showcase best practices from Gipuzkoa's business community, the third edition of the 'Sustainable Company' professional forum will take place on June 18th in the Prisma hall of Tabakalera in Donostia. The event, organized by El Diario Vasco, is promoted by the Sustainability Department of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, sponsored by Laboral Kutxa and Iberdrola, and supported by Adegi.
During the event, the winner of the 'Sustainable Company' Gipuzkoa 2026 award will be announced, recognizing the environmental, social, and economic commitment of companies in the territory. The four finalists are Echemar, Fagor Ederlan, Ondarreta, and Uvesco.
Prior to this, Nieves Cifuentes Valero, corporate environmental manager at Naturgy, will deliver a keynote titled 'Sustainability: From Environmental Management to Strategic and Business Asset'. With over three decades of experience in the energy sector, Cifuentes is a recognized voice on climate change, circular economy, and energy transition in national and international forums.
This award, now in its second edition, celebrates the commitment and trajectory of companies across their environmental, social, and economic activities. This year's contenders are Echemar, Fagor Ederlan, Ondarreta, and Uvesco. Last year's winner was Salto.
As a new feature, the selection process has incorporated an open participation modality. Alongside the three companies directly proposed by the jury, the fourth finalist emerged from the evaluation of candidacies submitted by organizations themselves. The evaluation committee included Mónica Pedreira (director of ecological transition for the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa), Paul Liceaga (deputy general director of Adegi), and Karmele Segura (local communication manager at Laboral Kutxa).
The award ceremony will conclude the forum, followed by a networking session with coffee to foster connections and collaborations among attendees. Attendance is free but requires prior registration.
