More than 300 people gathered at the Azkoitia Gaztetxe for the conclusion of the second edition of Gaztetxeak Bertsotan, where bertsolaris Eli Zaldua and Suhar Gesalaga took home the championship.

In Azkoitia, Gipuzkoa, the final of the second edition of the Gaztetxeak Bertsotan event was held last Saturday, attracting over 300 attendees. The initiative, which combines youth centers (gaztetxes) and bertsolaritza (Basque improvisational poetry), began in January and has visited several gaztetxes before its conclusion.
Eli Zaldua and Suhar Gesalaga were the bertsolaris who received the audience's applause and won the championship. Meanwhile, the Azkoitia Youth Assembly awarded its prize to Ander Sarriugarte and Haira Aizpurua, and the organizers honored Aitor Tatiegi and Iradi Barrenetxea with a bertso dinner.
The program started after lunch and continued with concerts, a bertso street gathering, and the participation of bertsolaris from different generations (including Enara Gallastegi and Unai Iturriaga; Maddi Sarasua and June Aiestaran; and Gorka Pagonabarraga and Jexux Mari Irazu). The day concluded with concerts by the bands Ameba and Sekule.
As part of the event, representatives from various gaztetxes (Galdakao, Gernika, Kiñu, and Azkoitia) held an initiative in support of youth centers and extended an invitation to attend the meeting of Euskal Herria's gaztetxes and youth assemblies to be held on May 29th and 30th in Elorrio.
The Gaztetxeak Bertsotan project was created last year with the aim of bringing new generations closer to bertsolaritza and youth centers. The organizers have expressed a positive assessment, stating that they are fulfilling their objectives and strengthening the community.
