The documentary Hutsune handi bat, directed by Anne Zufiaurre and Alex Areizaga, which explores the collective loss caused by heroin consumption and AIDS in Zumarraga and Urretxu, will premiere in Azkoitia this coming Tuesday, April 16.

The opening words of the documentary's trailer, “Take your town, and remove 115 young people. What do you see? A big void,” encapsulate the core of the work. Indeed, during the 1980s and 1990s, 115 young people died in Zumarraga and Urretxu due to heroin consumption and AIDS, leaving a significant void in both towns.
This audiovisual, directed by Anne Zufiaurre and Alex Areizaga, aims to recover the silenced “collective memory of pain” through the testimonies of numerous citizens. The documentary offers a narrative about the damage caused by heroin and AIDS in these two communities.

The documentary Hutsune handi bat will be screened the day after tomorrow, Tuesday, at the Baztartxo theater in Azkoitia. The screening will begin at 8:00 PM, promoted by the municipal Equality and Prevention department, and admission will be free for all attendees.
