Basque Railway Museum in Azpeitia Launches Steam Train Season

The museum, managed by the public company Euskotren, will begin its regular season of steam train operations from May 1st until November.

The Basque Railway Museum in Azpeitia, Gipuzkoa, managed by the public company Euskotren and under the Basque Government, will inaugurate its regular steam train season this Friday, May 1st, which will continue until November.

During this season, four steam trains will be put into operation, making the journey from the Azpeitia facilities to Lasao. Departures are scheduled for Friday, May 1st, at 12:00 PM; Saturday, May 2nd, at 12:00 PM and 5:30 PM; and Sunday, May 3rd, at 12:00 PM.
The museum houses one of Europe's finest railway collections, featuring a wide variety of vehicles including steam, diesel, and electric locomotives, railcars, and various types of wagons. Additionally, it offers one of the most comprehensive collections of machine tools in Euskadi, showcased through the old mechanical workshops of the Urola Railway.
The collection also includes samples of uniforms used on the railway since the late 19th century and one of the world's best collections of railway clocks. The museum is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:30 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:30 PM; on Saturdays from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM; and on Sundays and holidays from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, excluding Mondays.
