The Güeñes City Council and the Soineko Association have launched the 66th edition of the international paper dress competition, a benchmark in artisanal and sustainable fashion.

Güeñes will once again serve as the runway for the renowned international paper dress competition, now in its 66th edition. This event, established as one of the «most original, demanding, and recognized» in the field of artisanal and sustainable fashion, will take place on Saturday, September 12, at Arenatzarte Park, starting at 8:00 PM.
The registration period opened this Tuesday and will remain open until August 31. The organizers have called upon designers, dressmakers, Fine Arts students, fashion students, and sewing enthusiasts to participate in a competition that «combines creativity, technique, and tradition in a unique format». A key distinguishing feature of the contest is its technical rigor: all dresses must be made exclusively from paper and sewn, either by hand or machine, «without the use of glues, staples, or other materials external to sewing».
This requirement transforms each design into «a piece of high artisanal value». With the collaboration of EL CORREO, the organization hopes to attract participants not only from the region but also from other parts of the country. Interested individuals can register by sending an email to soinekovestidospapel@gmail.com or through the online form available on the competition's website (www.vestidospapel.com).
As in previous editions, there will be two categories: children's and adult. Both the design and the cutting and tailoring of each proposal will be evaluated. A jury will consider aspects such as originality, aesthetic coherence, technical finish, and artisanal craftsmanship.
