Gordexola is hosting the sixth edition of the 'Gordexolidaridad' solidarity initiative this weekend. Over the past years, this event has successfully combined sports, music, culture, and popular activities with a common goal: to support the fight against breast and gynecological cancer and raise funds for ACAMBI, the Association of Breast and/or Gynecological Cancer of Bizkaia.
The sixth edition of the event kicked off this Friday with the performance of the play “Café de Civeta” at the Gordexola Antzokia. This event also included a subsequent colloquium and served as the starting point for an intense weekend of activities open to all citizens.
The main highlight will be this Saturday, with a day full of activities for all audiences. The program includes the traditional mountain march “Subida al Ilso”, children's workshops, a solidarity mus tournament, a paella contest, a charity auction, theatrical improvisation, and several solidarity concerts that will fill the fairgrounds with atmosphere. Among the scheduled performances are Las Moskas Retrompeteras, Apeadero Norte, Maldito Enrique (a tribute to Héroes del Silencio), Sabes Muy Bien, and Aupa Hi.
The program will also continue on Sunday with the second edition of the “Vuelta a San Cosme” race, an event that reinforces the initiative's sporting and participatory character, alongside a solidarity concert by the group Kaducados.
Since its inception in 2020, ‘Gordexolidaridad’ has continuously grown thanks to the involvement of residents, associations, businesses, artists, volunteers, and the Gordexola Town Council itself. The initiative was promoted by Javier Abaurrea after his wife's breast cancer diagnosis, transforming a personal experience into a solidarity movement that mobilizes hundreds of people in Enkarterri each year.
The funds raised are allocated to ACAMBI, an organization that provides psychological support, physiotherapy, nutritional advice, a wig bank, and comprehensive support to individuals affected by breast and gynecological cancer. Furthermore, part of the proceeds also contributes to projects focused on prevention, early detection, and medical research.
The organization wishes to once again express its gratitude for the support received from the entire municipality over the years and encourages residents and visitors to join an edition that will once again make solidarity the main meeting point of the weekend in Gordexola.
