Balmaseda's Horcasitas Palace is set to host the second edition of Wine Identity, an event bringing together wineries, enologists, and sommeliers this weekend to introduce wine culture to the general public.

Organized by the Enkartur association, in collaboration with the Balmaseda City Council, the festival will showcase a curated selection of wines, ranging from established appellations of origin to prestigious international names. Attendees will have the opportunity to discover the elegance of wines from Piedmont and Tuscany, the versatility of the Chardonnay grape from the Chablis and Mâcon regions, or the uniqueness of albariza wines, without forgetting the txakoli tradition of Enkarterri.
Admission to Horcasitas Palace will be free, allowing anyone to enjoy the atmosphere, learn about the work of the wineries, and purchase bottles directly from producers in the sales area. Additionally, those interested can buy a ticket booklet for ten euros, which includes a crystal glass and redeemable vouchers for wine tasting at the palace's various stands.

"This second edition represents the consolidation of a project that not only looks to our immediate surroundings but also places the region on the international wine circuit."

Alfonso San Vicente · Mayor of Balmaseda and President of Enkartur
This year, Wine Identity strengthens its commitment to education with a program of activities aimed at both professionals and enthusiasts. Highlights include guided tastings, costing eight euros, which will offer expert-led tours through the world of Champagne or the legacy of artisan vignerons. Reservations can be made through the Visit Enkarterri website.
Furthermore, the festival will feature free access meetings and presentations to address current issues in the sector. Specialists will discuss topics such as the identity of vineyards in Rioja Alavesa and the emergence of new alcohol-free and low-alcohol wines. The program will conclude with a round table discussion on the future challenges of the sector, bringing together restaurateurs, distributors, and producers.
