The Association of Basque-Speaking Municipalities (UEMA) has urged citizens to complete their tax declarations in Basque, offering detailed instructions to streamline the process and encourage language use.

Through this campaign, UEMA emphasizes that it is sufficient to express the desire to communicate in Basque when making an appointment or contacting the tax authorities. This allows interactions to be in Basque, whether in person, by phone, or online. They also reminded that the document for signing can be received in Basque.
Those filing their tax returns online can download the Basque version and select this language in the preferred language section. Individuals managing their declarations through an advisory service must explicitly request that it be done in Basque, and the same request can be made at financial institutions.

"Although the number of citizens who file their tax returns in Basque increases year after year, it is still far from the data shown by the sociolinguistic reality."
