Jesús Pérez Rodríguez, a member of the Board of Directors of Tubos Reunidos, has submitted his resignation this afternoon. Rodríguez is one of the individuals under investigation by the National High Court in connection with the SEPI rescue. The board member stated that the company's current situation requires special attention, which is incompatible with his other responsibilities.
Yesterday, the members of the Works Council met with representatives from the Basque Government, the Provincial Councils of Araba and Bizkaia, and the Amurrio City Council. Unions, such as ESK and LAB, have expressed criticism regarding the outcomes of these meetings, citing a lack of detailed information from public institutions about potential investors, despite indications that they may exist.
The ESK union has denounced that "it is difficult to ask for confidentiality when no information is provided." The workers' organization has demanded transparency, information, and certainty, as the company's future remains uncertain. LAB has also voiced a similar opinion, reiterating that "a new phase requires new management and a new leadership."
Meanwhile, Ramiro González, the Araba Provincial Representative, expressed satisfaction with the acceptance of the agreement by the workers of Maderas de Llodio, emphasizing the importance of social dialogue. However, he voiced concern over the judicial investigation involving Tubos Reunidos, though he believes it should not impact the bankruptcy negotiations.
González has been critical of the unions, stating that "framing the union struggle as a battle against companies is a serious mistake." Instead, he urged labor organizations to adopt an "entrepreneurial culture." The Aiaraldea Industrial Development Council will also present its work on June 23rd.
