Durango will pay tribute to a key figure in cultural promotion, marking the first anniversary of his passing, through a series of events scheduled from May 8 to 17.

The memory of an individual who was fundamental to the cultural scene in Durango will be honored. This person, who presided over the Duranguesado Artistic Association for more than two decades, made significant contributions to painting. Following his death on May 12 last year at the age of 82, colleagues, artists, and actors will pay posthumous tribute to him from May 8 to 17.

"His figure is key and essential in the development of this collective, as we know it today. A multifaceted artist, he played a prominent role in the cultural scene of our environment."

As part of the tribute, an exhibition titled Huella de artista. Artistaren aztarna. In Memoriam has been organized, showcasing part of his pictorial work. The exhibition offers a brief overview of his various facets as a painter, writer, filmmaker, and screenwriter. The exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and on weekends and holidays, in addition to the afternoon, also from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
His collaborators highlight his humanity and approachability, as well as his great energy and passion. He was a crucial part of the association's origins, which began from his fine arts store opposite Santa María, a meeting point for artists. He always aimed to bring art closer to young people, organizing school competitions that attracted up to 1,500 participants in one edition.
Cinema was another of his great passions, serving as a screenwriter and director. As part of the tribute, the group of actors and the technical team from his short films will commemorate his role as a screenwriter and director at an event organized in San Agustín on Saturday, May 16, at 7:00 PM. The last two short films he directed will be screened, with the final one being a posthumous premiere. Afterwards, there will be a discussion with some of the actors who worked with him. Admission is free and can be requested at the Durango Art and History Museum.
