During the meeting, municipal representatives, including the mayor and a councilor, received proposals, concerns, and suggestions from citizens. The City Council presented the options considered for installing the public restroom, particularly highlighting the advantages of a location near the long pedestrian walkway in Muruetatorre.
However, residents expressed their own ideas, notably suggesting relocating the Bizkaibus bus stop and placing the restroom there, arguing it would improve accessibility and convenience for users. The City Council committed to studying this suggestion but emphasized the importance of analyzing a potential "black spot" that could arise from that location before making a final decision.
“"Collaboration between the City Council and citizens is fundamental for progress. Listening to residents' proposals and concerns is key to making decisions that truly respond to their needs."
To foster a broad discussion and an informed, consensual decision on the public restroom's location, the Municipal Government will invite associations such as the Bizidun Senior Citizens' Association, Durango Lagunkoia, and Women's Feminist Associations in the coming days to participate in a meeting to jointly analyze the different proposals. The final proposal will then be presented at a meeting open to all neighborhood residents.
Other relevant topics for the neighborhood were also discussed at the meeting, including participatory budgets and the proposal to extend the bike path in Muruetatorre. The City Council will work on this proposal and present it at a future meeting for evaluation. The mayor thanked the active participation of citizens, emphasizing the importance of these collaborative spaces for continuing to build a better Durango.
