When asked about the championship's progress, Ormaetxea stated that they experienced "extreme" heat, unusual for this time of year. Despite these conditions, he reported that everything went well, with participants attending and large crowds in the stands. He explained that while some athletes suffered "minor dizzy spells," there were no heatstrokes overall.
He expressed satisfaction with the results of the Arrasate Atletiko Taldea members. "With this heat, there were no conditions to improve records, but the results were good," he commented. For instance, Oihan Zulueta won the 200-meter race with a time of 21.82.
The coach emphasized the importance of being able to host the Gipuzkoa Athletics Championship in Mojategi. He noted this is due to the closure of the Anoeta track. "If it were open, we would have one or two championships here annually, not five as this year," he indicated.
He added that, "in theory, we cannot hold the entire Gipuzkoa championship here." This weekend, all events were completed except for the long throws, which are scheduled to take place in Hernani or elsewhere. "That is our handicap with the artificial turf," he stated.
Finally, he highlighted the work of the volunteers, calling it "essential." "For us, all the work they do is indispensable. We have a wonderful team," he concluded.
