The third edition of the Lizagasar Erronka mountain race will be held on September 11th in the Lizagasar Sagartokia orchard, situated in the Azkue neighborhood of Berriz. Organizers have set a limit of one hundred bibs, with registration available exclusively online until September 11th. Participants must be over 14 years old and federated, with a fee of 10 euros per bib.
Additionally, the Erronka Txikia (Little Challenge) has been organized for children up to 12 years old. This event will not be competitive, and all participants will receive a gift. Registration will be open from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, and the race itself will start at 11:10 AM.
The race is unique as it takes place in an orchard located at the foot of Karakate mountain. It features 2,300 apple trees divided into 60 sections, with participants covering an 8-kilometer route that includes a positive elevation gain of 750 meters and gradients of up to 35%. Organizers have stated, "this year we will find a completely colorful landscape, as the apple trees are at their peak moment of splendor, full of apples."
A full-day program has been prepared. The gates and food stalls will open at 10:00 AM. Spectators will have the opportunity to explore the orchard firsthand, and music will be provided by Pires DJ to liven up the event. The award ceremony is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
The organizers have warned that parking will not be permitted within or immediately outside the Sagartokia grounds, recommending the use of nearby parking facilities, such as the one in Mintxeta.
In previous editions of the Lizagasar Erronka, among the 28 participants, Iñigo Lariz and Pilar Arriola were the fastest.
