Korpion, a company from Mutriku with nearly 120 years of history, reflects the profound transformation of the woodworking sector by integrating digitalization and industrial manufacturing. The company combines technology, programming, design, automation, and material knowledge for the future of carpentry.
Founded in 1907, the company has reached its fourth generation under the leadership of Leire and Udalne Korpion, who aim to preserve the knowledge and experience of previous generations while contributing their vision for the future of carpentry.
The company's evolution mirrors the transformation of the wood sector, moving from a traditionally artisanal craft to an industrial manufacturing model where technology, precision, and digitalization play an increasingly significant role. To achieve this, it has incorporated numerical control machinery from RIERGE and HOLZHER, as well as 4-axis CNC machinery from ELKOR, alongside advanced computer-aided design and manufacturing solutions.
The company's activity focuses on the custom design and manufacture of furniture and woodworking solutions, primarily working on projects for homes, commercial spaces, hospitality, and offices, in collaboration with professionals in architecture, decoration, and interior design.
With around ten employees and an annual turnover of 1.3 million euros, Korpion fosters innovation through continuous improvement of production processes and the integration of new technologies. They have received support from the SPRI Group's Renove Smart Industry program for technological modernization.
The company's commitment is clear: to evolve from traditional carpentry towards a more digitized, efficient, and competitive wood industry, always maintaining its characteristic quality and personalization. Key challenges include deepening digitalization, improving productivity, and attracting talent, as well as highlighting the role of women in the industry.
