The Elorrio City Council, along with Athlon and local schools and clubs, has launched the Eskola Kirola program for the 2026-2027 academic year, set to begin in October.

The Elorrio City Council, in partnership with Athlon and the municipality's schools (including Elorrioko Ikastola, Eskola Publikoa, and Lourdesko Ama), alongside local sports clubs, has initiated the Eskola Kirola program for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Targeted at 1st and 2nd-grade primary students, the initiative's primary goal is to foster the motor, cognitive, affective, and social development of children. It emphasizes co-education, inclusion, and values-based education, aiming to prevent early specialization and encourage healthy habits and the enjoyment of sports.
The program will commence in October and run until May. Sessions will take place every Wednesday at the Polideportivo (Sports Center) from 17:00 to 18:15. LH1 students will engage in the "Jolas Hezi" program, focusing on body expression, spatial structuring, and games. Meanwhile, LH2 students will participate in "Heziki + Kirolak", offering them an introduction to various sports such as Basque sports, martial arts, athletics, basketball, rugby, football, hand-pelota, nature activities, and HEZIKI. Additionally, LH2 students will have special Saturday encounters each month to experience these sports.
Informative meetings for families are scheduled in September to aid organizational management, although the registration period will remain open throughout the entire school year.
