The renovation works on Urkizuaran street in Elorrio have been completed after more than a year of construction. The section between the San Antón hermitage and the Maderas Gallastegi area now presents a completely transformed image, with improvements in both mobility and pedestrian use.
The project involved a total investment of 714,000 euros, of which more than half a million was financed by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia. The intervention included the conditioning of the roadway, the restoration of existing sidewalks, and the creation of a pedestrian route, in addition to the installation of modern lighting and a water collection system. According to the local government team, the result is a more pleasant and functional space.

In this regard, the City Council has focused on reinforcing safety and accessibility. To achieve this, traffic speed has been reduced by narrowing the road and installing raised pedestrian crossings, while the new pedestrian route is protected by fencing.
