The Durango City Council will construct 37 new recreational gardens in the Eguzkitza neighborhood, near Hegoalde avenue, aiming for a more sustainable municipality, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2026.

These gardens will be located in the Eguzkitza area, close to Hegoalde avenue. Users will be required to pay an annual public fee of 50 euros. In return, besides the opportunity to cultivate their own plot, they will have access to a shed for storing materials, changing rooms, and a system for recycling plant material.
To enhance safety and aesthetics, the city council has announced that the electrical line crossing the area has already been buried underground. The project design is complete, and according to forecasts, the city council will issue the public tender in June.
The initiative has a budget of 262,898 euros, and construction work is expected to last approximately three months from the completion of the awarding process. The new area is anticipated to be operational by the end of 2026.

"Thanks to these gardens, the municipality will take another step towards a more sustainable Durango, more connected with nature."
