The Álava Provincial Council has initiated a new round of its participatory budgets, offering citizens the chance to engage in the design and decision-making processes for public policies in 2027.

This process begins with the publication of Foral Order 25/2026 in the Official Gazette of the Historical Territory of Álava, which approves the calendar and forms for submitting proposals and voting on eligible projects. The provincial institution emphasized that this initiative continues to serve as a tool for participatory, direct, and deliberative democracy, enabling residents of Álava to express the needs and priorities of their municipalities and regions.
Citizens have until May 8 to submit their proposals. Subsequently, proposals will be verified and filtered until May 19, with a technical and economic assessment conducted between May 20 and June 12. The list of selectable projects will be published on June 15.
The public voting phase will take place from June 22 to July 22, during which citizens can choose the projects they deem priorities. The final results of the vote will be announced on September 22. The process will also include a feedback phase for citizens from September 23 to November 20, and an evaluation and improvement proposal period extending until January 31, 2027.
Proposals can be submitted via physical or electronic registration using the provided forms. All information, the calendar, and necessary forms will be available on the Álava Provincial Council's Open Government Portal. The Council has encouraged citizens, associations, and entities within the territory to actively participate in the process to help build a more cohesive and sustainable Álava.
