“"In summer, it is common for various services to close or be suspended, for schedules to change, for shop hours to be reduced, for the town to empty... and an offer was made to alleviate the loneliness this generates in older people. The working group for services within the care ecosystem proposed a new offer: unlike before, in addition to offering the Artzabal Day Care service also in August, they proposed taking a short walk once a week and chatting over a coffee: it was warmly received, as about 35 citizens participated in those sessions. Thus, after a positive evaluation of the initiative, it has been decided to repeat it this year, and, even without students, the weekly summer appointments are already set in the calendar."

The "Goazen Kalera" initiative, organized collaboratively by the Usurbil City Council and various stakeholders, will offer weekly healthy walks starting on May 12, beginning in Zubieta and continuing until August.
With the aim of making Usurbil a more caring community, the "Goazen Kalera" dynamic has been active since the beginning of the year. These walks, organized by the Usurbil City Council in collaboration with other entities, will take place every Tuesday, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, in different neighborhoods and areas of the municipality, starting from the local fronton.
At the end of each walk, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a delicious hamaiketako (light snack) prepared by the culinary students of Atallu's Basic Vocational Training. Additionally, a taxi service will be offered from the town center to the neighborhoods at 10:15 AM, in front of the Laurok bookstore.
This year's calendar brings novelties, as the walks will be extended until August, and the initiative will not stop even on holidays. This aims to alleviate the loneliness of older people during the summer months, and the Artzabal Day Care service will also be offered in August. This initiative seeks to promote intergenerational relationships and mutual care, in addition to physical activity.
These walks are open to the entire community, and anyone can participate for free, without prior registration. For more information, you can visit the Social Services headquarters, at Kale Nagusia, 43, or call 943 371 951.
