A Volkswagen Touran has been almost completely destroyed by fire after breaking down and igniting on the GI-11 road, near Lasarte-Oria, this Saturday.
The incident occurred around 10:30 AM. According to the Basque Department of Security and the fire department, the fire started in the vehicle's engine. None of the occupants were injured.
The flames spread rapidly, and by the time firefighters arrived, the car was almost entirely consumed by fire. The incident led to one lane of the road being closed for over an hour, causing "slight traffic jams" for vehicles heading towards Donostia.
Cleaning crews are still on site carrying out tasks to clear the roadway.
