San Sebastián has activated the operational deployment of its Employment and Local Development Plan (2026-2030), launching its initial actions and calls. This marks a new phase in local employment policy, emphasizing greater collaboration among agents, companies, and institutions to create job opportunities, improve the social and labor inclusion of its residents, and respond more effectively to the needs of individuals and the city's economy.
Among the first initiatives is the creation of the Local Employment and Inclusion Agents Network, connecting entities working in employment and inclusion within San Sebastián. The network aims to identify needs and resources and foster collaboration among agents in the local employment ecosystem. Complementing this network, a call for projects to drive employment and inclusion has been launched with a budget of €300,000, co-financed by Lanbide and the Basque Government's Department of Economy, Labor, and Employment.
Furthermore, by the end of the year, a total of €825,000 will be allocated to programs and aid aimed at boosting new employment opportunities. Of this amount, €600,000 will be directed towards tractor projects and support for new business creation. Hiring aid will also be introduced, with an additional €225,000.
Ane Oyarbide, Councilor for Economy and Local Employment, highlighted that "the Agents Network and the call for tractor projects respond to the same strategy: connecting San Sebastián's local employment ecosystem to identify challenges, experiment with new solutions, and generate concrete employment and inclusion opportunities." Iñigo Olaizola, Managing Director of Fomento de San Sebastián, added that "promoting employment is a strategic objective for Fomento de San Sebastián and a key pillar of the city's Innovation Plan."
Aid for the creation of new businesses has also been launched, with a fund of €300,000, including financial support for the entrepreneurship pathway. These aids combine advice, training, and financial support, offering specific incentives for innovative projects and accompanying their development from the initial stages.
