Fundación Cristina Enea and the Parks and Gardens department of the San Sebastián City Council are organizing an outing on Saturday, October 3rd, to discover the apple trees at Katxola. This initiative aims to extend food production models to various city areas, engaging local communities and creating more habitable green spaces for citizens.
As urban and community gardens become increasingly common, fruit trees like apple trees are emerging as a food source in our streets and parks. The Katxola farmhouse, located in the Aiete neighborhood, is an ideal place to learn about their significance.
Katxola is not just any farmhouse; it is a farmhouse-lagar (cider press). Together with members of the Lantxabe neighborhood association, participants will explore its history and operation. Afterward, there will be an opportunity to harvest the apples in an 'auzolan' (community work) and process them into juice for tasting.

The activity, part of the Basque Climate and Energy Week (Asteklima), will begin at 10:30 AM at the Katxola farmhouse itself (Paraíso street, 22). It will last approximately 3 hours and is aimed at families, with children aged 6 and above.
