Students from Lezo Institutua presented this week at the Lezo Town Hall the work they have carried out throughout the academic year. As part of the Agenda 2030 program, they have focused on the Sustainable Development Goals and have put forward several proposals to improve different areas of the town. This meeting took place coinciding with International Environment Day.
During the school year, they identified trees in Altamira Park in collaboration with the Aranzadi Science Society. Furthermore, with the Bakeola Foundation, they have strengthened the involvement of families and students. They also positively assessed the Altabira day, stating it is an «effective and beautiful way» to bring the institute closer to the town and showcase student work to the residents of Lezo. They have announced their intention to repeat the activity next year, and the Town Hall has «joyfully» welcomed the initiative.
Additionally, they have analyzed various areas of the municipality and developed improvement proposals. Consequently, they presented suggestions concerning the use, maintenance, accessibility, and safety in parks, green spaces, and other public areas.
Municipal representatives expressed their gratitude for the students' contributions. While several projects are already underway, they have noted other ideas for future consideration. «Presenting the studies and work carried out throughout the course to the town hall is very useful for the Lezo Town Hall to identify the town's needs and continue improving,» stated the Council.
Following the presentation, the Town Hall and Lezo Institutua have committed to continue collaborating next academic year on the development of the School Agenda 2030 and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
