The Errenteria City Council has once again reaffirmed its commitment to promoting a festival free from gender violence, under the slogan 'If you are not comfortable, it is an assault'. These measures have been designed considering the situations of discrimination and aggression faced by women and LGTBI+ individuals, particularly in festive and leisure contexts.
This campaign, created in collaboration with members of the feminist movement, festival committee representatives, and the Ostari hospitality association, aims to raise awareness and provide guidelines for intervention in various types of assaults, both for victims and witnesses. It also emphasizes that no one has the right to question another person's feelings and that the responsibility for an assault lies with the aggressor.
Campaign materials will be distributed among bar owners, festival stalls (txosnas), and festival committee representatives. Additionally, this year, several gastronomic societies have joined the initiative, displaying the campaign material at their premises to reinforce their stance against gender violence.
The resources made available to the public include a 24-hour telephone service (from July 21 to 26, and from July 27 to 31 in the mornings), which is free and confidential, attended by a psychologist (650 407 858). This service will offer information, guidance, and psychological support, as well as register incidents of assault during the festival. For emergencies, it is recommended to call SOS Deiak at 112 or the local police at 092.
Furthermore, a sensitization and prevention point will be set up in Foru plaza to raise awareness about gender violence. Two professionals will be present there to offer information and support from July 21 to 25 during specific hours.
The night bus service will be reinforced from July 21 to 24 to reach all neighborhoods in the municipality. Lines G1 and G2 will have additional departures in the early hours of the morning, with some buses extending their route to Perurena.
There will also be special reinforcements from the local police, with two officers present on Pilota street (near the Galicia roundabout) daily from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM, from July 21 to 25. Citizens can also go to the Town Hall 24 hours a day to request assistance in case of any incident.
Finally, all municipal elevators will be operational 24 hours a day, including at night, to facilitate mobility and ensure accessible and safe routes between neighborhoods.
