In summer, it is common for several services to close or be interrupted, schedules to change, shop hours to be reduced, the town to empty... and an offer was made to alleviate the loneliness this generates in older people. The team of services within the care ecosystem proposed a new offer: unlike before, in addition to offering the Artzabal Day Care service also in August, they proposed taking a short walk once a week and chatting over coffee: it received a warm welcome, as about 35 residents participated in those sessions. Thus, after a positive evaluation of the initiative, it has been decided to repeat it this year, and, even without students, the weekly summer appointments are already set in the calendar.

The 'Goazen Kalera' initiative, organized by the Usurbil City Council and various entities, will offer healthy walks from April 14 until August, aiming to foster mutual care and community relationships.
With the goal of making Usurbil a more caring community, the 'Goazen Kalera' program has been reactivated since the beginning of the year. This initiative, organized in collaboration between the City Council and other stakeholders, offers healthy walks that will take place every Tuesday. The first of these walks is scheduled for April 14, passing through Aginaga.
The walks will be held every Tuesday, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, in the town and neighborhoods of Usurbil, starting from the local fronton. A taxi service will be available from the town center to the neighborhoods, departing at 10:15 AM in front of the Laurok bookstore. At the end of each walk, participants can enjoy a delicious hamaiketako (light snack) prepared by the culinary students of Atallu's Basic Vocational Training.
The organizers have released the new schedule for these healthy walks, and this year's edition brings a significant novelty: the initiative will be extended until August and will not be interrupted even on holidays. This aims to alleviate the service interruptions and reduced hours common in summer, mitigating the loneliness that can affect older people.
These walks are open to the entire community, and anyone can participate for free, without prior registration. The objective of the 'Goazen Kalera, Usurbil' initiative is, in addition to physical activity, to promote intergenerational relationships and mutual care, according to the organizers.
