In this 58th edition of the championship, 24 municipalities have registered for the hand-pelota modality. Usurbil's representatives will be the pelota players from the Pagazpe association: in cadets, Ekain Alejo and Markel Alejo; in youth, Aimar Alejo and Enaitz Errasti; and in seniors, Xabi Santxo and Iñigo Ibargoien.
The round of thirty-two will be played this weekend and the next. The 16 municipalities that advance, along with the remaining eight, including Usurbil, will join in the round of sixteen. Usurbil's opponent will be the winner of the playoff between Eibar and Andoain. The first leg will be played on the weekend of May 17 in Eibar or Andoain, and the return leg on the weekend of May 24 in Usurbil.
Should Usurbil advance past this stage, they would qualify for the quarterfinals, with those matches scheduled for the weekends of May 31 and June 7. This year's edition has seen an increase in participants, with three more towns in hand-pelota, four in pala, and another four in rubber paleta. Additionally, this edition will feature new trophies, crafted from adhesive tape waste used in this sport.
In total, 495 pelota players will participate in the championship. In the hand-pelota modality, 24 municipalities will compete, in leather paleta and short pala 10 municipalities, and in rubber paleta 18 municipalities.
